Waiver of Rights
Students have the right to request a waiver of any College regulation or requirement that relates to admission, academic standards or graduation by submitting a formal written appeal to the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Associate Degree Seeking Students: Two graduation requirements that are never waived are the 60 credit-hour minimum and the minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Bachelor Degree Seeking Students: Three graduation requirements that are never waived are the 120 credit hour minimum, the minimum grade point average of 2.00, and the minimum credit hour residency.

WhileSpringfield College in Illinois operates according to specific policies established by the administration and faculty, this procedure allows for the orderly suspension or change of policy, for cause, in case of extenuating circumstances. A clear statement of such extenuating circumstances, along with supporting evidence, and the reasons why they have prevented the student from achieving the normal College standards must accompany the request for a waiver. Students begin the request for a waiver by seeking the advice and approval of their academic advisor. The number of additional approvals required depends on the nature of the requested waiver. The Dean of Academic Affairs will notify the student, in writing, once a decision has been reached.
