Adult Accelerated Undergraduate Programs

Associate in Arts Degree (AA)

The Adult Accelerated Associate in Arts Degree is a 60 credit hour program. Students must complete 37 – 41 credit hours of general education core requirements and 19-23 credit hours of electives. Completion of at least 20 of the last 30 hours must be earned at Springfield College in Illinois.

The Adult Accelerated Associate in Arts degree program offers specific advantages to adults who are balancing career and family with earning a degree.

Program Advantages:

  • Accelerated eight-week courses are conveniently scheduled on weeknights and weekends.
  • Each class meets one time per week for four hours.
  • Six sessions per year allow students to attend school year round, completing their degree in an accelerated time-frame.
  • Prior college credit may be transferable.
  • Students may earn credit through CLEP testing, challenge examinations and portfolio assessment.
  • Federal and state financial aid is available for eligible students.

Adult Accelerated Bachelor Degree Completion Programs

The Adult Accelerated Bachelor Degree Completion Programs are taught in a cohort format. Cohorts are a natural fit to adult education – a group of students enroll at the same time and progress through required courses together in the same sequence, adding self-selected electives when necessary. Classes continue year round, without interruption, until the degree requirements are completed.

Program Advantages:

  • Accelerated five- and ten-week modules conveniently scheduled on the same night the entire length of the cohort program.
  • Classes meet one time per week for four hours with nine 5-week modules per year.
  • Federal and state financial aid is available for eligible students.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Sociology Minor
A psychology major in the Benedictine University program will learn what motivates people and the skills needed to effectively work with them. The degree program provides the student with an overview of careers that deal with people on a one-to-one basis or in a group using statistics and other research skills. Your course of study will prepare you to continue graduate studies in psychology or other related professional careers.

Degree Requirements:

  • All majors must complete at least 41 major program hours with a grade of “C” or better.
  • Complete two Cultural Heritage classes (HUMN 220, 230 or 240 and HUMN 250).
  • Earn a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale).
  • 55 semester credit hours must be completed at the baccalaureate level (4-year, regionally accredited schools).

Bachelor of Business Administration
in Management and Organizational Behavior

A student majoring in Benedictine University’s Management and Organizational Behavior program will receive a basic foundation grounded in the principles pertinent to the functional areas of business, accounting, management and marketing. Students will be prepared in the areas of project management, human resources and strategic management emphasizing the management process of planning, implementation and control. Your course of study will prepare you to continue graduate studies in business or other related professional careers.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (R.N. to B.S.N. Completion)

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) from Benedictine University will provide you with the skills necessary to adapt to an environment where the only certainty is change. Since all of our students are working professionals, our curriculum is organized to build on and enhance those skills you already possess.

Degree Requirements:

  • Meet University core requirements;
  • Hold a current, valid registered nurse (RN) license in Illinois;
  • Successfully complete the following courses or their equivalent: BIOL-203(4), BIOL-208(4), BIOL-258(4), CHEM-C101(3), CMSC-100(3), PHIL-245(3), PSYC-C100(3), PSYC-C200 or equivalent, and SOCL-C100(3); and
  • Successfully complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or better:
    NRHL-200 Nursing Transitions, NRHL-213 Health Aspects of Aging, NRHL-250 Statistics, NRHL-290 Health Assessment**; NRHL-295 Research, NRHL-300 Holistic Nursing, NRHL-301 Family Health Nursing**, NRHL-311 Community Health Nursing, NRHL-320 U.S. Health Care Systems, and NRHL-378
    Management. **Have a clinical/lab/field work component.
