General Information

Loan Periods
Books (3 weeks); audiovisual (1 week). Please arrange for renewal before the due date to avoid overdue fines either by phone, email, or in person.

Fines/Fees
An overdue fine of $2.00 for each item takes effect on the 8th calendar day after the due date. All student records, such as grades and transcripts, will be held after the semester if library items are not returned and fines/fees paid. A fee of $55 is due if the item is lost: that includes $15 for processing and $40 to replace the library item.

Using Your Library Card
Students at SCI are issued a photo ID which serves as their library card. The barcode for checking out library materials begins with the prefix 27513. You must have your ID with you when you come to the library. This ID is also good at other academic libraries, but NOT at public libraries.

Benedictine University students may be issued a photo ID, but the library barcode is different than the SCI one. The Benedictine prefix is 22811. This barcode gives those students access to the databases on the Benedictine library website. A sticker with this number is available at Becker Library.

Policies
The library is kept quiet for study. Please take phone calls outside in the hallway.

Inter Library Loan

Interlibrary loan makes books available from other libraries in Illinois. Utilize the I-Share website to take advantage of this service. (Please review the detailed instructions prior to visiting the I-Share site. Email or call the library if you need any assistance with the process.) Please understand that delivery of materials will take at least one week.
