This year's Sleepy Weasel available on line

This year's print edition of The Sleepy Weasel is at the printer's now and due to come out May 17 in time for commencement exercises. In the meantime, we are putting it up on the World Wide Web ... along with a lot of very good material that we couldn't fit in the print edition. So if you're reading this on line (and it's a lead-pipe cinch you are, because this page hasn't been published in hard copy and wasn't even written till now), you have a wider variety of reading and art in front of you than will be available in the print edition.

To reduce the size of the printed book and get printing costs down within our budget, we had to limit ourselves to one work per contributor. We also, reluctantly, left out work by Mitch Ladd and Nikkie Prosperini, this year's editor and next year's editor of our Springfield-Benedictine student newspaper, on the theory they were published elsewhere. In addition, we omitted faculty writing by Judi O'Brien Anderson and Pete Ellertsen, and limited art to one piece each by fine arts instructors Marianne Stremsterfer and Jason Bly. These contributions by faculty and students who are published elsewhere are [or soon will be, given the vagaries of print journalists trying to upload graphic files] available on line, along with mass communication student and editorial assistant Lauren Burke's cover.

We are already accepting work for next year's Sleepy Weasel, which we will begin putting on line over the summer. As always, all SCI and Benedictine students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are welcome to submit their work to The Weasel.
